Oh It Is Love.

Roses Are Red,
Violets are Blue...
Fuck You,
Whore.
-500 Days of Summer ( I think? ) Who cares.

This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie 'The Graduate'. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent's marriage she'd only love two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.

Author's Note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.

It's official. I'm in love with Summer.  I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps.

I hate her crooked teeth. I hate her 1960s haircut. I hate her knobby knees. I hate her cockroach-shaped splotch on her neck. I hate the way she smacks her lips before she talks. I hate the way she sounds when she laughs.

It's these cards and the movies and the pop songs, they're to blame for all lies and the heartache, everything.

I think that if there was ever a movie that explained love and life so perfectly and in a way that I could completely connect with the characters I think that it was 500 Days of Summer. (Also it helps that the the protagonist is extremely attractive along with the leading lady. I LOVE ZOEY DESCHANEL! (I think I spelled it wrong. give me a break)) But It's real. Or at least real in the sense of Hollywood. People fall in love. the girl realizes that real love isn't easy to come by, keeps her gaurds up, and then finds it. Even while the guy is fawning over her, not yet realizing that you have to just go through a few people to get to the right one. Because I think you have to give your heart away in order to get a new one.
You know?
Like You must give your heart to a person who is going to take it. And once you have space for a new one that person comes along and instead of giving you their heart, they give your half of theirs so that you're equal. You're the same. Half and half. Not whole and empty.
Perfect balance.
And that's what Summer finds while reading Dorian Gray.
And that's what Tom finally finds when he finally does what he was meant to do.
Be an architect
So even if it isn't a love story, it's still a good story all the same.
